If you're the adventurous sort, there's a way to get from Halifax to both Paris and Iceland using Icelandair, on the same ticket, for just $711 roundtrip after taxes.
Flights to Paris alone run around $1000 roundtrip these days. To get from Halifax to both Reykjavik (KEF), the capital of Iceland, and then on to Paris (CDG), and then back home to Halifax (YHZ), for just $711 roundtrip after all taxes and fees, here's what you need to do...
1. Perform a multi-city search on Kayak. Here's an example for September 3rd to September 12th...

2. Click through from Kayak to Orbitz (just to the right of the 'Select' button on Kayak)
3. Complete your booking through Orbitz
When you go to the Kayak link above, if you click on 'Flights' (top-left) and then click on Multi-City, you can try playing around with different dates to see if other cheap dates are available. From what I've found, it looks to be mostly September/October dates that are cheap.

Yesterday, I booked this six week Europe trip (prices quoted from
Expedia.ca, works if booked as two oneways):
Sep 24 YHZ-FRA on Condor: C$440.xx
Nov 4 AMS-KEF-YHZ on Icelandair: C§430.xx
($20 less than if booked on Icelandair)
Total amount is about C$871
Not like the C$711 you posted today, but it is for a longer stay and
outside the main tourism season, so accommodation in Europe might be
more affordable.
Nov 4 is Iceland Air's last flight of the season to YHZ. Condor stops a
few weeks earlier.
I think Iceland Air's fall sale ends today.

Think a deal like this will come up again? We're looking to do Iceland and Paris for our honeymoon 14-21st of October - price of flights pending. If we can't get a deal we'll just travel around Iceland.
Do you think it's likely that we'll see something like this again?
