WestJet has dropped the price of their flights from Halifax to Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Amsterdam, and Spain down to between $390 and $590 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights are nonstop both ways.
Current prices: Halifax to...
Dublin, Ireland (DUB) - Not currently cheap.
Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI) - September, October dates for $557 to $599 roundtrip.
London, England (LGW) - Dates in October for $567 to $588 roundtrip.
Paris, France (CDG) - Not currently cheap.
Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS) - September and October dates are available for $506 to $551 roundtrip.
Barcelona, Spain (BCN) - Not currently cheap.

You can also try searching for Multi-City trips on similar dates (flying into one city and home from another) and find plenty of different ways to get to Europe and back in the $500s roundtrip. One way flights within Europe are almost always cheap.
