If you're the adventurous sort, there's a way to get from Halifax to both Paris and Iceland using Icelandair, on the same ticket, for just $711 roundtrip after taxes.

Flights to Paris alone run around $1000 roundtrip these days. To get from Halifax to both Reykjavik (KEF), the capital of Iceland, and then on to Paris (CDG), and then back home to Halifax (YHZ), for just $711 roundtrip after all taxes and fees, here's what you need to do...

1. Perform a multi-city search on Kayak. Here's an example for September 3rd to September 12th...

2. Click through from Kayak to Orbitz (just to the right of the 'Select' button on Kayak)

3. Complete your booking through Orbitz

When you go to the Kayak link above, if you click on 'Flights' (top-left) and then click on Multi-City, you can try playing around with different dates to see if other cheap dates are available. From what I've found, it looks to be mostly September/October dates that are cheap.
