Santo Domingo is the capital of the Dominican Republic and one of the Caribbean's oldest cities (in fact it is the oldest European City in the Americas).
Santo Domingo is known for its walled, cobblestone historic centre with buildings from the 1500s. It's about 2.5 hours west of Punta Cana.
