"I'm a travel junkie who's hooked on deals from YHZ." - Chris Myden

Halifax to London, UK and then home from somewhere else in Europe - from $499 CAD including taxes

Munich, Germany

Air Canada and WestJet have been having a bit of a battle on one-way flights from Halifax to London. Air Canada never used to offer cheap one way flights to Europe (they were always similarly priced to roundtrip flights) until WestJet started flying to London Gatwick, and they were forced to compete.

This means It's currently possible to book a cheap one way ticket from Halifax to London, UK using WestJet or Air Canada and then book a cheap, separate, one-way ticket back home from somewhere else in Europe on Condor Airlines, and keep the price as low as $499 including taxes for both flights.

Important info about booking 2 separate one-way tickets

Make sure both of the flights you want are actually available, at the price you expect. Ideally, you would want to book them both at nearly the same time. You might want to have 2 browser windows open, and get them both right up to the payment screen before hitting the final confirmation button.

You just don't want to get into a situation where you book one flight, and then find out the other flight isn't available.

Hi, this is where you could add the cheap WestJet oneways from Dublin. :-) Other options for cheap oneway returns: Icelandair from various places, and SATA/Azores Airlines from the Azores and Lisbon (connecting to WestJet in YYZ), if booked on the SATA website (AFAIK the cheap prices are unavailable to OTAs).

BTW, that statement is not exactly true: "Air Canada never used to offer cheap one way flights to Europe (they were always similarly priced to roundtrip flights)"

Until sometime last year, Air Canada did (surprisingly!) offer very affordable oneway flights from YHZ to LHR - but not the other way round. Also, it did not work for connections, like YHZ-LHR-VIE. I have no idea why it was that way, but it was available for a long time. However, that stopped sometime last year. I booked such a ticket for a friend of mine early last year.

Now, AC is offering oneways again, but to LGW, which means Air Canada Rogue. I'll pass.

    Have a great day!
