Air Canada has dropped the price of their flights from Halifax to Tokyo, Japan down to $533 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop each way, in Montreal.
Halifax to Osaka / Kyoto is also available for about $20 more.
You can also find Multi-City flights, where you fly into Tokyo, and then fly home from, say, Osaka, and keep the price in the $600s roundtrip.
It doesn't have to be Osaka that you return from, it's worth trying all airports in Japan at the moment. Some of the cheapest combinations are Tokyo and... Sapporo, Fukuoka, Nagoya, or Kobe.
