Halifax to Toronto - $198 CAD roundtrip including taxes

After yesterday's announcement by NewLeaf involving their plan to offer cheap flights from Halifax to Hamilton, WestJet has thrown back a punch of their own, by offering flights from Halifax to Toronto that are well below their typical bottom levels (over 40% less than usual).
It would not be surprising to see Air Canada follow suit.
Both are likely to be aggressive with attempting to throttle new competition out of the Canadian marketplace.

How to find and book these flights...
1. Start with a search on Google Flights...
(click on the departure date box when you get there, to bring up the calendar view)

2. Click through from Google Flights to WestJet's website for booking.
You can also try taking the same dates you found on Google Flights, and trying a search on Expedia.ca or Flight Network or ITravel2000. They are showing these fares as well.

Prices within Canada are stupid. Everybody knows that. Westjet and Air Canada jack up the prices and then offer promo codes to try and convince people there are deals to be had, but the price hasn't actually budged.

This is the cheapest flights to Calgary have been in years - $347 roundtrip after tax!

Update @ 12 AM: The promo code (which expired at midnight) made this deal a bit better, but the real key here was the large drop on the base fare. Looks like it works out to $383 roundtrip after tax without the promo code, which is still a pretty amazing price for Halifax to Calgary, especially for summer. And as of this writing, still available.
