After having their initial launch run into some red tape troubles, New Leaf is back, offering some sorely needed competition in the Canadian market.
From Halifax, New Leaf is only offering flights to one destination, and that is Hamilton, Ontario (90 min drive to Toronto).
Flight from Halifax to Hamilton, ON are priced at $199 CAD roundtrip including taxes in late August and September, 2016.
Be aware that New Leaf is a no-frills budget airline, similar to the model seen in Europe. *Everything* costs extra, beyond a personal item. A carry-on bag is $25. Your first checked bag is $30. complete list of fees.
The last time New Leaf launched, WestJet and Air Canada responded by dropping their prices. That's what competition does. Keep an eye on YHZ Deals for word of them doing so again!
Availability for travel
New Leaf is offering flights from July 25, 2016 onwards, however the $199 CAD roundtrip flights are from August 25 onwards. Flights over Labour Day in September are available.
How to find this deal
1. Go to the New Leaf website
2. Search for a flight from Halifax (YHZ) to Hamilton (YHM). Start with a date that is July 25 or later.

Update 7/21 - WestJet responds by dropping the price of their Halifax - Hamilton flights down to $188 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Flights over Labour Day are available.

UPDATE 8/27- October flights from Halifax to Hamilton, Ontario are available for $197 CAD roundtrip including taxes, including dates over Thanksgiving. The same dates to Toronto are $426 CAD roundtrip.

Prices within Canada are stupid. Everybody knows that. Westjet and Air Canada jack up the prices and then offer promo codes to try and convince people there are deals to be had, but the price hasn't actually budged.

This is the cheapest flights to Calgary have been in years - $347 roundtrip after tax!

Update @ 12 AM: The promo code (which expired at midnight) made this deal a bit better, but the real key here was the large drop on the base fare. Looks like it works out to $383 roundtrip after tax without the promo code, which is still a pretty amazing price for Halifax to Calgary, especially for summer. And as of this writing, still available.
